Objective Give the hard-working Cisco sales force a fun way to learn about products, services and selling strategies, while rewarding them with a uniquely entertaining experience. Approach In order to hold the attention of a busy audience who’ve seen more than their share of “infotainment” platforms, we decided to develop a new kind of learning tool. We created an immersive role-playing game (RPG) rendered in a Hollywood-style sitcom and invited real Cisco employees to help a fictional Cisco sales team win the contract of the century. Throughout the experience we incorporated informative dialogue and interactive challenges covering topics like cloud computing, collaboration, and core products and services. Results Challenge and reward tactics motivated, engaged, and resulted in learning for the players. The game was designed to encourage repeat play, thus allowing deeper retention of presented content. In fact, the game with the deepest amount of educational content achieved an average of five play-throughs per player. The idea was to showcase a concert as though you were viewing it in an older theater in a time that has long passed us by. Borrowing grit and grime from that era the music and asthetic pair in a way that made for a great experience.
